Treehouse Trek
October 8, 2009
Detroit TV personality Lila Lazarus will participate in the Community Foundation of St. Clair County's "Treehouse Trek" the evening of Oct. 10 at the Pine River Nature Center near Goodells.
The 4:30-7:30 p.m. event is designed to show guests the universally accessible treehouse completed earlier this year at the nature center, and encourage support for the Access to Recreation Initiative which helped underwrite the treehouse. Activities include a barbeque, bonfire and campfire music courtesy of noted guitarist Jimmy Deheno.
The Pine River Nature Center is at 2585 Castor Road, just past the Goodells County Park. (Google Maps)
The Treehouse Trek celebrates the first universally accessible treehouse in Michigan that is open to the public. The tree house is near the center of the 90-acre Pine River Nature Center and gives visitors a bird's-eye view of the forest and wetlands near the Pine River. It can be reached from an accessible woodland trail, making the treehouse experience available to persons of all physical abilities.
The tree house was completed in partnership with St. Clair County RESA and is part of the Access to Recreation Initiative.
The event is free to the public, however reservations are required. For more information or to make reservations, please call the Community Foundation at (810) 984-4761.
